The Campaign for Tomorrow:

Honoring Our Past, Defining Our Future

Since 1992, Fredericksburg Academy has provided a progressive educational environment that changes students’ lives and has the capacity to change the world in which we live. Today, we strive to maintain our high level of educational standards while planning for ways to enhance our students’ experiences. To support these efforts and to secure the strong future of the institution, Fredericksburg Academy’s Office of Development has embarked on a comprehensive and ambitious $1.5 million campaign titled The Campaign for Tomorrow.

Through your support, The Campaign for Tomorrow will create a strong future for Fredericksburg Academy built on the foundation established by its founders. Together, we will define a future that embraces change while remaining rooted in our past.

SUPPORTING THE CAMPAIGN

Seventeen years after its founding, Fredericksburg Academy remains on the cutting edge of education.  One hundred percent of our seniors are accepted at four-year colleges and universities, and our alumni frequently attribute their success in college to FA’s rigorous curriculum and caring faculty.  Academy students’ SAT scores have always far exceeded state, national, and local averages (The FA Class of 2009’s mean score was 305 points above the national average). To maintain and further the educational mission and reputation of the Academy, your support is needed. The Campaign for Tomorrow is a concentrated, comprehensive effort to secure and steward private support to fund a multitude of needs at the Academy. The funds raised through this campaign will support capital projects, campus enhancements, and academic support and also will relieve a mortgage based loan that will free up dollars for mission-specific programs and opportunities.

Capital Projects

One of the goals of this campaign is to secure private funds for much-needed capital improvements, including:

  • Air-conditioning in the Gym
  • Replacement of Computers
  • Uniforms for Athletic Teams
  • Athletic Equipment

Growing Opportunities for Students

Another major goal of the Campaign for Tomorrow is maximizing students’ educational experiences through:

  • Retaining small class sizes
  • Providing professional development for faculty and staff
  • Offering salary and benefit packages that allow FA to remain competitive in the recruitment of the most qualified faculty and staff
  • Maintaining reasonable market-sensitive tuition increases

NAMING OPPORTUNITIES

A gift to The Campaign for Tomorrow is the perfect way to honor or memorialize a family member, a friend, or a favorite member of the faculty and staff. Everyone who participates in the campaign will have their name listed in the Annual Report and on our Campaign Wall Plaque but if you would like your gift to be recognized elsewhere on campus this is the list of additional naming opportunities:

  • Benches around campus ($1,000). There are 8 naming opportunities available.
  • Seats in the Reed Theater ($250).  There are 450 naming opportunities available.
  • Pavers that will create a patio in front of the Lower School playground ($150)
  • Banners in the gym ($3,000) available for companies and sponsors.

Other naming opportunities are available. Please contact the Director of Development if you are interested in learning more.

METHODS OF GIVING

You can fulfill your campaign pledge with gifts of cash, securities, and/or property. You and your family may fulfill your campaign pledge over three years, with the first gift taking place at the time of the pledge commitment.

You can make an online gift to the Campaign using your credit card here.

Matching Gifts: Ask your employer of your spouse’s employer about matching gift opportunities.  Many companies will match your donation.

Appreciated Stock: Donors wishing to make gifts of appreciated stock enjoy a triple-win scenario by securing a charitable income tax deduction based on their full fair market value of the donated asset, avoiding capital gains on appreciated stock, and making a meaningful gift to the Academy that costs less than cash.

Planned Giving:  In celebration of our original Pioneers, the newly named Pioneer Society provides an opportunity for families to participate in the campaign through planned giving.  If you are interested in designating a planned gift to FA, the Development Office can help arrange these gifts, including real estate and/or real property, insurance, bequests, annuities, and other life income vehicles.

Honor and Memorial Gifts: Gifts may be made in honor, or in memory, of an alumnus, family member, faculty or staff member, friend, or any special person you wish to recognize.

Gifts of Real Estate:  Real estate often comprises a significant percentage of overall holdings within a financial portfolio.  Many options are available for gifts of properties, including a personal residence, vacation home, farm, or investment/commercial property.

Since the founding of FA, parents have taken up the challenge:  to contribute time, talent, energy, imagination, and the financial resources necessary to make the Academy  a thriving, innovative leader in education.  This ongoing commitment and generosity has made Fredericksburg Academy the strong and vital institution we are today.

With your philanthropic and volunteer support, FA will continue to inspire student success through an outstanding quality of education for generations to come.
Please support the Campaign for Tomorrow, and join us in
defining our future as we honor our past!
