About Fredericksburg Academy
History: Founded in 1992, Fredericksburg Academy provides a strong liberal arts education within a safe, nurturing environment, offering students a breadth of challenging academic experiences that prepare them for the country's best colleges and universities.
Head of School: Mr. Robert E. Graves
Students: Enrollment is 540 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. Students come from Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Orange, Culpeper, and Woodbridge. Teacher/Student Ratio is 1:7. The Lower School (Grades PK-5) has 294 students. The Middle School (Grades 6-8) has 121 students. The Upper School (Grades 9-12) has 125 students. There are 20% students of color. Average class size is 16 students.
Faculty: Fredericksburg Academy retains a motivated and highly qualified faculty. There are 77 teaching faculty, averaging 11 years of experience.
Facilities: 50-acre campus, two academic buildings, gymnasium, 413-seat theater, five athletic fields, four tennis courts, an eight -lane swimming pool, two libraries, and two computer labs.
Academic Program: The college preparatory curriculum includes fine arts, foreign language, and integrated technology instruction at all levels using a campus-wide wireless network. Upper School students may take Advanced Placement Courses in most disciplines. Seniors complete an independent study project, the Senior Exhibit.

Extended Day Care: Monday-Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm on days school is in session and teacher work days.
Competitive athletics: begin in sixth grade. The Academy fields 24 teams: soccer, field hockey, cross-country, swimming, basketball, dance team, tennis, golf, and lacrosse.
Parents: Parents volunteer their time and talents playing a vital role in the life of the school community. Parents are members of the Parent-Faculty Association, which supports activities and programs throughout all three school divisions.
Accreditation and Memberships: Accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and recognized as an accredited school by the Virginia Board of Education, Member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) , the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB) , the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) , and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) .
