Academics
Students come to Fredericksburg Academy to be challenged academically and inspired intellectually. The Academy is a place where children – from inquisitive four-year-olds to college-bound twelfth graders – love to learn. Students are actively engaged in learning through reading, discussing, analyzing, participating in group activities, and experimenting in the lab.
Small classes and individual attention are two hallmarks of a Fredericksburg Academy education. Learning takes place in a supportive yet stimulating environment in which every student can be challenged, can learn, and can succeed. Faculty guide students toward academic achievement by encouraging independent learning both in and out of the classroom and by using materials and concepts attuned to students’ developmental levels.
The college preparatory curriculum includes fine arts, foreign language, and integrated technology instruction at all levels using a campus-wide wireless network. Upper School students may take Advanced Placement Courses in most disciplines. Seniors complete an independent study project, the Senior Exhibit.
The Academy encourages its students to have a balance in their lives. Students are active on the playing fields and on the stage as well as in the classroom.
