Diversity Statement

Fredericksburg Academy is committed to fostering an environment where each member, regardless of ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status, is a welcomed and valued contributor.

The Academy's Diversity Committee, comprised of members of the Board of Trustees, administration, and faculty, takes on initiatives each year to strengthen the Academy's commitment to diversity. The Diversity Committee's work has led to:

• Sensitivity training for the Academy's faculty and staff
• Academy administrators' attendance at hiring fairs for teachers of color
• Academy students' participation in the National Association of Independent Schools People of Color/Student Diversity Leadership Conference
• Academy administrators' and faculty representative's participation in Georgetown Day School's "Building and Sustaining Multicultural Schools" Workshop
• Middle School student Peer Mediators' participation in D.C. Metro Middle School Student Diversity Conference
