Camp FA FAQs

How do I register my camper?

On the Registration page, you will:
  • click '+ rising __ grade' (you can register multiple campers at once!)
  • type camper's first and last name, and your email address
  • use internal scroll bar and click 'register campers' (on the lower right of your screen)
  • choose camp selections for camper name shown at top of page
  • choose camp selections for additional campers as needed
  • click 'submit and continue'
  • complete form with camper's information
  • click 'submit'
  • complete payment information
  • you will receive an email confirmation once registration is complete

Can my camper attend half-day?

Yes! Campers can be registered for either half- or full-day camps as well as before- and after-camp care.

What is a "typical day"?

7:00-8:55 a.m.- Before-camp care
8:45-9:10 a.m.- Morning Carpool Drop-off.
9:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.-
  • Specialty Camps: Everyday Adventures, Sports Academy, Visual and Performing Arts, Talon Tutoring
  • STEAM Academy: three STEAM sessions, morning snack, swim instruction, physical activities, games
12:00-12:10 p.m.- Morning Carpool pick-up.  
12:00-3:00 p.m.- Afternoon Adventure and Full Day Specialty Camps
  • Full-day Specialty Camps: Everyday Adventures, Visual and Performing Arts
  • Afternoon Adventure: lunch, two STEAM sessions, physical activities, games
3:00-3:10 p.m.- Afternoon Carpool pick-up.
3:00-6:00 p.m.- After-camp care

Can we visit campus for a tour prior to registering?

Yes! We would love to have your family visit FA where we will show you around campus and explore a typical day of camp. Email summercamps@fredericksburgacademy.org to schedule your tour today!

What does my camper need to bring?

Summer

STEAM Academy

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Morning snack (all food should be healthy and cut into bite-size pieces - avoid choke hazards)
  • Swimming will take place in the morning, so we ask you to please send your son/daughter to camp Mon-Fri wearing their bathing suits (girls=one piece, boys=trunks) under their clothing. Pack change of clothes in a labeled Ziploc Bag.  Wet suits will be returned in the bag.
  • Towel for pool
  • *MANDATORY-Flotation device for JK-1st graders (2 Certified Lifeguards on duty during all swimming with 2-4 additional staff present on the pool deck)
  • Have your camper wear closed-toed shoes with backs. No flip flops or sandals, please.

Afternoon Adventure

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Lunch (packed or pre-ordered)
  • Have your camper wear closed-toed shoes with backs. No flip flops or sandals, please.
  • JK/K - rest supplies including bottom and top cover with a pillow (these will be stored Monday-Thursday and returned on Friday)

Play Local

  • Swim accessories - bathing suits (girls=one piece, boys=trunks), and towel
  • Campers must have the MANDATORY PRE-REGISTERED WAIVER completely filled out prior to camp.

What is the refund policy?

To cancel a camp session or transfer enrollment into a new session, contact Summer Camps Director Todd Pristas by email, summercamps@fredericksburgacademy.org.
 
Summer Camps registration fees are not transferable to another child. We are unable to make refunds for missed days of camps.
 
Please note the following FA Camps Cancellation Policies:
  • A $40 administrative fee will be deducted from the refund of tuition and fees if a cancellation occurs before June 1.
  • All fees are forfeited if a cancellation occurs after June 1.
  • All fees will be refunded if a camp is cancelled by FA Summer Camps. Alternately, campers have the option to transfer enrollment into a new camp or future session of camp, and the difference in fees will be refunded or owed.
  • Refunds are provided by the same method as payment. Credit card payments are refunded to the card used for payment.
  • Camp registrations may be transferred to a different camp if openings are available and with the approval of the Director.

Are swim lessons available during camp?

Yes, for Camp FA: Summer.
 
Campers enrolled in STEAM Academy will participate in either Swimming or Water Games each morning. Swimming is overseen by the CAMP FA Aquatics team and certified lifeguards. Campers of all skill levels will be instructed in swim techniques and have time for free swim to encourage capability and confidence in the water.
 
All campers in grades JK-8 should arrive at camp wearing a swimsuit (girls=one piece, boys=trunks) under their clothing. 

Does my child need a flotation device?

Swimmers in rising grades JK-1 MUST bring and use approved flotation devices (puddle jumpers or life jackets) for use during swimming time in the pool unless cleared by an FA Summer Camps lifeguard through a swim test and given written permission by a parent or guardian to swim without a flotation device. Flotation devices will be stored at camp Monday-Thursday and will be returned home on Friday.

Are snacks and meals included?

Campers should bring a clearly-labeled water bottle, morning snack, and lunch with them each day. (Please see above: What does my camper need to bring?) Refrigerators and microwaves are not available for the storage or preparation of camper lunches. Parents are encouraged to assist children in packing healthy, energy-sustaining foods.
 
Camp FA: Summer offers optional lunch orders from Sam’s Pizza & Subs are available for campers throughout the summer using the CAMP FA Registration. A snack will be provided for those campers who attend Falcon Club in the afternoon.

Where do I drop-off and pick-up my camper?

Summer

  • Mondays- All families must park and walk up to FA Summer Camps Check-In Table in front of the Arts & Sciences building.
  • Tuesdays through Fridays - Follow staff directed carpool.
As you arrive, you will be directed to the carpool location by staff, following cones and flagged-locations.
 
  • Morning and Afternoon Carpool Drop-off and Pick-up is in front of the Arts and Sciences Building, 10725 Academy Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
  • In the event of rain, we will move carpool to the John and Virginia Hazel Sports Center, 10775 Academy Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.
Our primary focus during morning and afternoon carpools is safety. The following rules are in place:
  • The speed limit on campus is MAX 10 mph.
  • Cell phones are not to be used in carpool lines.
  • When a car is stopped to drop-off or pick-up children in the carpool line, other cars are not permitted to pass or go around.
  • If your child is in a car seat and can not buckle themselves, please park and walk to the pick-up lines. Counselors are not permitted to buckle your camper into car seats.
