Beginning Band is a semester long class where students will learn the basics of a woodwind or brass instrument. The class takes place in the Band Room of the Upper School Arts and Sciences Building. Students must provide their own instrument, method book, and supplies. Recommended locations for rentals include KBI Music Shoppe or Roberson’s Music in Fredericksburg, and both locations can provide the required method book, “Tradition of Excellence.” Please email David Mersiovsky with any questions regarding this class. dmersiovsky@
David Mersiovsky, a graduate of James Madison University, has been teaching music for over 10 years. He has played his trumpet in all types of groups and styles; from traditional concert bands, to brass bands, big bands, symphony orchestras, brass quintets, pit orchestras, and more. Mr. Mersiovsky enjoys working with young people to help them develop their musical talents and skills, and hopes that whatever path they choose in life that music will always be a part of it!
