Individualized College Counseling

College admission is a process of reflection and discovery, one that often challenges preconceived notions and ideas. Our Director of College Counseling knows each student and family in depth, which leads to meaningful dialogue, powerful advice, and a truly personalized letter of recommendation.

Parents in all divisions are encouraged to contact the College Counseling Office at any time and invited to attend parent nights and admission panels throughout the year.

College Counseling Guide

I am a native of Virginia, born and raised. I attended the College at William and Mary. My sister lives in Arlington, VA and her kids attended UVA and VA Tech. I grew up on the campus of Hampden-Sydney College in south central Virginia where my father was a professor and my mother a college librarian. I say all this mostly to let you know that I am familiar with the college landscape of Virginia both literally and figuratively.

David Heinemann, Director of College Counseling

I've spent nearly 3 decades in education, working in college admissions, college counseling, teaching World History, and coaching soccer.

David Heinemann, Director of College Counseling

The most rewarding part of my day is interacting with the kids and guiding them through the college process.

David Heinemann, Director of College Counseling

I was instantly drawn to the people of this community - students, faculty, administrators - when I first visited FA, and am so happy to be part of the FAmily.
