Individualized to Meet Your Family's Needs
Fredericksburg Academy's diverse learning community consists of many different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds—and we wouldn't have it any other way. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to education at FA, and tuition is no different. We work with a highly rated third party to determine an affordable tuition rate for each family based on its unique financial circumstances.

The Tuition Insurance Plan is required for all accounts except families that choose option one. A brochure about this program is available in the admission or business office.
Virginia families are able to use 529 Plans for private school tuition! There can be significant tax advantages to establishing and funding a 529 savings plan.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 contains a provision that allows families to use Virginia529 Plans to pay for expenses in tuition up to $$10,000 per year, per beneficiary at Fredericksburg Academy. The official 529 Plan website suggests that families who wish to use this benefit contact the Virginia529 Plan Office at 1-888-567-0540 or Virginia529.com to submit an inquiry through a form.
Fredericksburg Academy does not help in financial planning decisions, so we highly suggest contacting the Virginia529 Plan Office, as well as consulting your own personal financial planner to discuss how this may fit into your individual plan before making a final decision.
If you wish to take part in this program and utilize this option of the Virginia529 Plan, you do not need to notify Fredericksburg Academy. Checks written from the family, or from the plan on behalf of the family, should be made payable to "Fredericksburg Academy."

Indexed Tuition
Indexed Tuition at Fredericksburg Academy is the area's largest tuition support and academic program, awarding $2.58 million to 52% of the student body in 2025-26.

What Indexed Tuition DOES:
- Supports families' investments in their children's education by finding an affordable rate of tuition;
- Considers a wide array of factors, including household income and car, mortgage, and credit card payments;
- Transparently determines a reasonable tuition level based on the information each family reports during the application process.
What Indexed Tuition DOES NOT DO:
- Need to be paid back (it's not a loan);
- Get disclosed or listed publicly (it's a highly confidential process);
- Renew automatically (families must apply each year).
