Camp FA Staff

  John LaBarbera, Camp FA Director

John began his career in education at 15 years old along the gentle slopes of Cockaigne Ski Resort in Western New York. Though he greatly enjoyed working with little puffballs in tiny stick-strapped boots, after graduation he spent a decade pretending he didn’t want to work with children. Instead he gathered considerable experience, and some cautionary tales, from the worlds of retail and hospitality. Then as life would have it, John stumbled back into a collegiate track that led toward Speech Therapy. He provided in home therapy for a year but then his road skewed toward an opportunity to become a classroom teacher, then a chance to marry the love of his life, and gain two built-in minions, and coach across all youth soccer levels, and work in a private behavioral school for boys, and establish a low key zoo in his house because he has a hard time saying no to kittens, and start a photo & video business, and take on the Executive Directorship of Company 360, and help a few Title I after-school programs through the pandemic, and most pertinent to this bio, craft incredible memories for the students, staff, and families of Fredericksburg Academy and Camp FA!
