FA's Honor System
“At FA, honor is a way of life. I try to be an example to my friends and classmates because of the standard to which we hold ourselves, but more than that, FA has taught me to be a moral person even when no one is looking.” – Noah Lau ‘20, Chair of the Student Honor Council
The Honor System at Fredericksburg Academy fosters an environment of trust and respect in all divisions, and cultivates in each student a sense of individual integrity and responsibility.
Beginning in fourth grade, FA students sign a pledge that reads, “I have neither given nor received unauthorized help on this work.” As they continue into Middle and Upper School the emphasis on the Code increases, with faculty encouraging students to develop habits of responsibility and integrity.
In Upper School, elected student members and faculty sponsors oversee the Honor Council to ensure that each student receives formal honor counseling and that all honor procedures are fairly enforced. The group takes a proactive approach to educate their peers on topics related to the school code.
